Larry's Fishing Hole

LOOKING BACK and PLANNING AHEAD

With winter here we are looking back at last year and all the great moments of our fishing together. Some of these memories take us back to when we were youngsters fishing with Grandpa or Dad and catching Bluegills that were fun to catch along with the added reward of a fish fry with family. As we grew older we started fishing more with friends while targeting most all fish species.   Now, much older, the greatest moments in fishing for us are those treasured times with our extended family and friends among the most cherished moment being the time Linda & I spend together as fishing partners. Although there was nothing like the rewarding experience of seeing the smiles on our grandkids faces as they caught their own fish. I think it was as exciting for us as it was for all of them   We are reminded of the kids fishing clinics we do each year to help pass on the joy of fishing by teaching kids and the thrill they get from catching fish and winning prizes. As a writer, we have met some of the top pros in the sport of fishing, while getting to share with all those who visit our website the tips, fishing reports, events, news or info and more.   Winters are a great time to look back on your fishing of last year remembering what baits and tackle produced best results, and places you wish to return to this year. For this we find our Fishing Log very beneficial and hopeful since we fish many different lakes under varying conditions each year for many different species of fish. This helps us track good baits and tackle (for our product tests), best locations, fish patterns, lake conditions (for our lake reports), weather conditions and mostly the times of day along with Moon Phases so we can compile data and evidence for our annual Fishing Calendar.   Looking ahead at the many things we do to keep fishing a part of our lives which during winter would include the upcoming Fishing or Sports Shows that are a good source of fishing tackle and info. We enjoy being a part of these shows and one we recommend later this month is the Illinois Fish & Feather Expo in Bloomington where you can visit with us at our booth. And do not forget the Elmwood All Outdoors Show on March 5 – 6th for that shot in the arm of that outdoor and fishing stuff before fishing season starts. For show locations and dates, you can find a full schedule of Sport/Fishing shows on our WebSite.   Since those early days Linda and I have many great memories of fishing trips, memories of our days of tournament fishing together and good memories of introducing others to this great sport of fishing that will always be with us.   Next would be planning ahead for those 2011 fishing trips and if this includes some Ice fishing, Be Careful, fish with a partner and enjoy. Plan this year to introduce someone to the fun sport of fishing; a kid, a grandkid, a friend or a parent. And remember that hiring a guide can make it easy for you to take someone fishing with you. Some of the best fish-catching experiences will be introducing or exposing someone new to fishing or to fishing for different species of fish and one that you can look back on and re-live.   We get pleasure from sharing what we have learned about fishing and we enjoy watching new anglers getting hooked on fishing.   Check our website at www.larryfishinghole.com for lake reports, fishing events, news and info along with details to order our 2011 Fishing Calendars.
Till Next Time Have a Happy New Year, GOD BLESS & GOOD FISHING.!
