True outdoor show returns to the Peoria area
It all started with an idea and a “what do you guys think” from Jeff Lampe a year ago to get us and the Nash’s of Hoss’s Hawg Bait to say yes to helping organize and put together the new Elmwood AllOutdoors Show to be held on Saturday, March 6 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, March 7 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
in Elmwood, Illinois in the Elmwood High School and Grade School gymnasiums. Also involved early on with organizing is David Vaughan of Country Financial. Since then others of the community have come on board along with the dedication of the school administration and all the hard work from the community
pulling together to make this an outstanding and successful show.
We are excited and sure that all anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts will be happy to learn that a true outdoors show is returning to the Peoria-Canton-Galesburg area. Unlike so many other shows that mix their message, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors are the sole focus of the Elmwood AllOutdoors Show.
Those attending the show will find exhibitors from different states with just about everything for fishing, hunting and outdoor fun along with resort owners, charter fishing trips, fishing clubs and various guide services with many offering some show discounted packages. Come hear seminars by anglers and hunters,
including Frank Hyla of the Time on the Water TV show, bass fishing expert Terry Brown of Wired2fish.com, crappie guide Todd Gessner, DNR fisheries biologists, panel of Ron Boyer and Larry Dozard discussing bass fishing in strip-mine lakes, catfish guide Matt Jones, talking turkey by Jerry Nicholson, food-plot expert Phil DeJarnatt,
crappie guide Steve Welch and bowhunter Marc Anthony.
There will be a Big Buck Contest in which hunters can have trophy bucks measured by certified Boone and Crockett Club and Pope and Young Club measurers. Deer will be displayed during the show and five top entries will win prizes with awards presented at 3 pm Sunday.
There will be a trout pond for youngsters courtesy of Herman Brothers Pond Management and the Elmwood Community Foundation where kids for $3 get 5 minutes of fun fishing. If you catch a trout they will clean and vacuum pack the fish so you can take it home for dinner.
Prizes will also be awarded for some other fish. Also an archery range for youngsters will be offered courtesy of the Illinois Bowfishers.
Parking is free, Admission is $5 for adults and free for youngsters 13 and under and the High School Booster Club will provide Food and drink to be sold throughout the show and we will have Door prizes, raffles and much, much more. All proceeds from this show benefit the athletic programs (including the fishing team) and the students of Elmwood High School.
The show sponsors helped tremendously with financial assistance and please visit their links on the webpage to take advantage of their services, or let them know how you too appreciate their support of the Show.
